THIS MONTH’S SOLAR SEASON
CAPRICORN SEASON started at the Solstice on 21st December and continues to the 19th of this month when the Sun moves into zodiac sign AQUARIUS. The solar blend of Cardinal Earth Capricorn and Fixed Air Aquarius produces a mature mix of experience and experimentation. There is a definite sense of “out with the old, in with the new” about this time of year!
The effect of these EARTH/AIR energies can help you to evolve your current lifestyle, ensuring that it remains fit for purpose far into the future. Any plans which no longer serve your best interests should be released – rather like wardrobes full of clothes you do not want to wear any more. Previous versions of yourself looked good in them but they do not suit who you are now.

03 January PLANET VENUS MOVES INTO PISCES
You may be feeling ultra romantic or sentimental but please try not to be unrealistic in your expectations of other people. Accept them as they are with all their human faults. Fall in love with the actual person, rather than some fantasy figure dreamed up by your imagination.
Make sure you keep your feet firmly on the ground regarding matters involving your material security and avoid the temptation to squander your savings on stuff that satisfies fleeting desires. This is a good time to invest your money in charitable schemes so long as you are sure they are regulated with care and honesty.
The one area in which you can afford to dream big is that of making the best use of the gifts you were born with. The sky is the limit on this one and the only curbs on how high you can fly would be fluctuating levels of self-esteem or doubts about your own abilities.
06 January PLANET MARS RETROGRADE MOVES INTO CANCER
Try not to take it personally if the actions you have taken do not seem to be delivering the desired effects. There is nothing wrong with the initiatives you have taken, it is just that factors beyond your control are interfering with your ability to carry them forward. This apparently frustrating phase can be turned to your advantage, especially if you use it to inject even more imagination, emotion and enthusiasm into your creative endeavours. You could end up with a better result than you had originally expected!
08 January PLANET MERCURY MOVES INTO CAPRICORN
Put your mind into planning mode. Use it to create strategies for long-term success. Draw on experience you have gained over time and look to respected role models for their specialised guidance and instruction.
This could be the optimal occasion to compile your CV. Make sure that everything you put into it is relevant and of interest to authority figures who might be interviewing you in future. It is important to stress the reasoning that guides your decisions, especially if they do not appear to follow conventional routes to achievement. This is a process which requires care and attention as it gives structure and form to your aims, ambitions and prospects.
Mercury’s ingress into Capricorn creates a dynamic t-square formation with the North and South Nodes as they prepare to move signs in 3-4 days time. Communication really is key when it comes to personal progress. It is so important to take responsibility for your own understanding of what you are being told or taught. Just because someone is older, richer or apparently more important than you does not mean that their idea of how things are or should be is right. You become wise by drawing on your own experience rather than obeying orders on what to think or do.
11 January NORTH NODE MOVES INTO PISCES/SOUTH NODE MOVES INTO VIRGO
This particular phase of the Nodes’ 18/19-year cycle will last until July 2026. It places a strong emphasis on the need to embrace our spiritual nature, while honouring the importance of our physical health and wellbeing.

Eris is blamed for being a negative influence but in reality, she is not the true source of conflict, rivalry and discord on Planet Earth. It is humans who misuse her power to promote and promulgate aggressive action in the world so as to satisfy their own selfish purposes. Feisty Eris would far rather see us behaving like the brave warriors and fearless heroines from ancient times who were ready to defend their tribes by waging war against the wild and dangerous forces of destruction which threatened their existence.
13 January FULL MOON IN CANCER
Anything that comes to fruition at this time is likely to be the product of a fertile growing season. All the heart and soul, feelings and emotions you have poured into your project will pay off in the rewards of a harvest which would not be so rich if you had not cared so much! If you are critical of the results you have achieved to date it could be because you have failed to create an emotional connection with the goals you are aiming for.
Someone else’s recipe, template or design might have motivated you in the first place or activated your urge to make something, but the finished article is yours alone. It was conceived in your imagination, your instincts have guided it through its gestation and your body has given it birth. It is your child, your contribution to the world.

19 January THE SUN MOVES INTO AQUARIUS
The Sun’s force is now being filtered through the element of Air, which enhances your ability to think for yourself and to form your own opinions. Once you accept that your life is yours to control, direct and create you can get started on deciding what to do with it. Follow your own star, dare to be different, dazzle the world with your unique quality and style. You can determine your own destiny! The future is yours to fulfil.
The properties of Sun Sign Aquarius work well in team settings, or in tribes of kindred spirits who hold similar ideas and ideals without being afraid to agree to disagree on specific aspects of a situation. This placement is great for learning something completely new, changing your view of things and coming up with outside-the-box ideas. It is time to take a detached look at your situation, especially if you sense that you are stuck in a rather boring rut. Watch out for abrupt alterations to existing information due to sudden shifts in opinion and pay attention when you are out and about in case of unexpected or accidental events. Mercury in Aquarius is helpful if you are hoping to connect with kindred spirits (possibly from very different backgrounds to your own) in your neighbourhood, and should support your attempts to network within group or team settings.
On 29 January, Mercury conjuncts Pluto in Aquarius. This is potent and unpredictable energy, particularly when it comes to communication. Be prepared for considerable upheaval in areas involving information exchange, logistics and travel connections. The purpose of this type of disruption is to provide an early warning exercise designed to expose the existence of serious system failures before they get to happen in real time. 29 January NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS
Your intentions should be focused on the future. It is time to sow the seeds for projects that could continue to reap rewards many years from now. Ideally, your plans will contain an original element or incorporate evolutionary updates, even if you are working with something which has already proved to be successful. Do not be afraid to experiment with innovative models, ideas and concepts in order to bring a cutting edge to your design. The element of originality will help your scheme to stand out by giving it a novelty factor.
In just over two and a half hours after happening, the New Moon falls into a favourable trine with Jupiter in Gemini. 30 January PLANET URANUS MOVES DIRECT IN TAURUS
