Astrology for Aries Season 20 March – 19 April 2021
When the Sun moves out of Pisces and into Aries on 20 March the element of water gives way to the element of fire. The underlying emphasis transfers from emotion to movement, from feeling to doing, from imagination to action.
We have arrived at the first Equinox of the year, and now is the time to set your goals for the coming season. It is usually best for Aries to look for the next signpost, rather than setting their sights too far ahead. Your ultimate goal medal for achievement awaits you while you move through the necessary steps and stages towards it.
ARIES EQUINOX ENERGY
The 2021 Equinox brings a strong sense of forward movement, and a willingness to embrace what seem to be simple, straightforward solutions to testing problems. An emphasis on the signs of Aries, Gemini, Aquarius and Pisces creates an impatient and idealistic blend of fire, air and water elements. The only planets in earth signs are Uranus and Pluto, warning us that any lack of practical planning and preparation at this stage could have unexpected and potentially serious consequences in future.
When the Sun moves into Aries it will come under the rulership of Planet Mars which is currently moving through the mobile sign of Gemini. This volatile energy combination provides plenty of short-term push but very little calm consideration. It has a headstrong, impetuous quality – rather like a wildfire whipped up by strong winds!
Dwarf Planet Ceres and Asteroid Chiron are both travelling through Aries. These two heavenly bodies bring their own gifts, although of a very different nature.
Ceres is fertile and productive. She offers the enthusiasm and excitement that is needed to begin new schemes. Ceres’ influence can help you to create the design for something which will pass through a series of stages, from seed to fruition. You may only be involved in the initial phase, after which you pass the project on to others who will nurture it to completion.
Chiron is encouraging you to take the initiative in your self-healing process. Once you have understood the vital importance of the part you play in staying fit and healthy, you will be able to motivate others to take an active role in finding cures for their ills and solutions to their problems.
VENUS MOVES INTO ARIES
21 March: It is time to celebrate your independence, your ability to take the initiative and your willingness to do things on your own and in your own way. You still love to have company and to share your time and energy, but only if your self-sufficiency is recognised and respected.
FULL MOON IN LIBRA
28 March: This is a good time to evaluate decisions you made earlier, particularly during the period from the New Moon in Libra on 16 October 2020 until now. You might need to compromise on certain aspects of your choices in order to achieve more favourable outcomes. Do not be afraid to ask for advice from others before you seal the deal.
MERCURY MOVES INTO ARIES
04 April: It is a good idea to keep your communication style sharp and direct if you want your message to hit home. Stick to the point, try not to ramble or digress when you are describing or explaining a situation. But as this placement could make you a bit too quick to jump to conclusions, be careful to think before you speak. And be sure to wear protective gear when you are handling hot pans or sharp objects.
NEW MOON IN ARIES
12 April: This is a great time to set your intentions on winning goals. Your plans and projections should identify short, medium and long term objectives. You are sowing the seeds for success, but you must be prepared to wait for results. Take one step at a time and try not to get impatient or disappointed if you hit delays.
FLASH POINTS IN ARIES
28 March: Venus conjunct Chiron in Aries coinciding with Full Moon in Libra. Your talent for solving your own problems and your ability to help others with their self-healing process might be receiving recognition. This could influence some of the goals you choose to focus on in the next phase of your venture.
3-7 April: Venus and the Sun conjunct Ceres in Aries. You could be experiencing an urge to express your creative talents. Initially, it would be for your own pleasure and enjoyment but your project may well have growth potential.
9 April: Mercury conjuncts Chiron and Venus conjuncts Eris in Aries. It may be necessary for you to stand up for yourself in some way which could be difficult, especially if you have had the unpleasant experience of being ignored or not listened to. This is your chance to overcome any reluctance to assert your demands. It is your undeniable right to fight for what you want.
13-19 April: As the Sun and Mercury join up with assertive Eris in Aries, they form a confrontational square to potent Pluto in Capricorn. This could be a period when individuals who feel they are being abused, bullied, exploited or oppressed by powerful authority figures are ready to fight for their independence.
The energies which define Zodiac Sign Aries
POSITIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS
You cannot help enjoying the company of an Aries. Energetic, enthusiastic, playful and fun their presence certainly adds spice to life. Their can-do attitude is encouraging and, often without realising it, they motivate others to follow their aspirational example. Their independent spirit and willingness to give things a try is impressive. If they like the look of something, they do not waste time worrying about whether they could or should have it. They simply go after their goal and they do not give up until it is theirs, or until they decide they are no longer interested in it.
The Aries “me first” attitude is immensely irritating and can give the sign a bad reputation for being selfish and demanding. Their impatient insistence on having what they want, when they want it can be exhausting to live with. So is their childish tendency to get dramatically disappointed if things do not go their way, and the primitive behaviour they can display when they are miserable or bored.
ARIES LEARNING CURVE
The most difficult lesson for Aries to learn is to wait. It does not come easily to this impetuous sign to stay calm when things are taking longer than expected, or to stand aside while someone else takes their turn. They do not like to be forced into any form of suspended animation which is why they often resist sleep for as long as possible! But they cannot expect to rampage through life as though it were a race to the finish. An Aries who learns to be endlessly patient has probably achieved the greatest goal of all.
PLANET MARS RULES
Aries is linked with Mars, the mythological Roman god of war. In his negative aspect Mars (Ares in Greek myth) is a belligerent trouble maker who blunders about wreaking havoc with his random acts of violence. In his positive expression Mars is a true soldier: courageous, honourable, patient and disciplined. He is the archetype of the Warrior Brave, the Samurai, the chivalrous Knight of ancient history.
ARIES MOON SIGN
The inherent liveliness of this Moon Sign can be a great asset to anyone lucky enough to be born with it. It brings the ability to treat every day as a fresh start. The urge to win is instinctive and competition is a healthy outlet for the high-octane energy of this lunar placement. Fiercely independent, the individual born with Moon in Aries will want to act on their own initiative from an early age. Naturally goal-oriented, they need a constant supply of targets and objectives to aim for otherwise they start bouncing off the walls!
ARIES RISING SIGN (ASCENDANT)
It is quite possible that people born with Aries on the ascendant were in a hurry to arrive on the Earth plane! Their actual birth could have been a lot quicker than expected whether due to natural circumstances or accidental events. It may also be that some form of emergency surgery or intervention was involved. In any case, this personality comes across as dynamic, motivated and ready for action. Catch them on a bad day when they have had to deal with delays and frustrations and the more impatient aspect of their nature will be evident.
There are so many famous Aries from all walks of life that it would be difficult to choose from the very long list of outstanding examples of this sign. Suffice it to say that they all share the same feisty, brave spirit which enables them to push past anything that threatens to prevent them from getting what they want.

The worst thing about Aries is their tendency to be hyper competitive. Taken to excess this out of control urge to win at all costs makes Aries egoistic, jealous and vindictive. Some showbiz Aries are notorious for their diva-like demands and their selfish behaviour. Disney cartoon characters Cruella de Ville in 101 Dalmatians and the wicked Stepmother in Snow White are lifelike examples of the shadow side of Aries.
Aries and the Tarot
Fire Sign Aries is linked to the suit of Wands
The Ace of Wands represents Aries ability to initiate action and to get on with things when other, less courageous souls are still standing around wondering what to do next. Aries quick intelligence and eager energy puts them ahead in any competition.
The Two of Wands symbolises the Aries pioneering spirit and their need to find goals to focus on. Once they have identified their objective they set out to achieve it, even if others tell them that what they are trying to do is impossible and they will never succeed.
The Five of Wands represents Aries tendency to argue and fight with themselves, wasting energy on pointless activity. It would be better to take a more measured approach, and to pace themselves at a rate which they are sure can be sustained until their aims are achieved.
The Page of Wands represents the speed at which Aries can turn an idea into action. They process information rapidly and they get to the heart of the matter in double quick time. They may miss out on the more intricate details first time around but they are always willing to retrace their steps when it is important to do so.
