ABOUT ASTROLOGY

“We are born at a given moment, in a given place and … we have the qualities of the year and of the season of which we are born.” Carl Jung

How Astrology Works

Astrology is an ancient art that works with a symbolic version of the planets, stars and heavenly bodies surrounding Planet Earth. Its purpose is to offer the clarity and guidance we need to feel more in control of our daily lives.

The aim of modern-day astrology is to empower people and make them more aware of their own energies, qualities, strengths and weaknesses. Astrology is like a language that uses symbols rather than words. It looks strange and complicated until you learn to read and speak it!

 Astrology and YOU

My HOME PAGE suggests various ways in which astrology could help you, or be part of your life. Before you invest in a birth chart reading or report it is a good idea to think about what you want to achieve from the experience. Your willingness to know more about yourself, your potential and what you really wish to manifest during your life is what really counts. You will find further information about what astrology can offer you on my SERVICES PAGE.

 Frequently asked QUESTIONS

What is a birth chart?

An image of how the Sun, Moon and planets were positioned in the skies around Earth when someone is born. The person’s birth chart puts them in the centre of a perfect circle which represents the solar system and the heavenly bodies within it. The planets are placed against the 12 Constellations of the Zodiac Band.

What is a horoscope?

A 360 degree circle which represents the Earth’s daily rotation on its own axis. A horoscope is set for the latitude and longitude of a person’s place of birth, at the time of their birth and on the date of their birth. It shows which section of the Zodiac Band was rising over the eastern horizon of their birth place when the person was born. This point is known as the Ascendant, or Rising Sign. The Horoscope is divided into 12 Houses, taking the Ascendant as the beginning of the 1st house.

Does anyone else have my horoscope?

There will be other people in the world whose times, dates and places of birth are very similar to yours, therefore their horoscopes will be almost the same. But while astrological “twins” may have characteristics in common, the way each one chooses to use their birth chart energies will be absolutely and undeniably unique to them.

Which sign am I most compatible with?

The short answer is all of them! You do not have to limit yourself when it comes to pairing up with someone from another section of the Zodiac. While it is true that there will be some sun sign energies which are easier for you to get on with and others that you may find more challenging, the factors involved in determining the astrological outlook for a potential partnership are complex. So please do not allow silly, superficial statements about which signs do and don’t go well together put you off someone who could turn out to be the love of your life!

What’s the difference between astrology and astronomy?

Astrology is a philosophical way of looking at life. It is based on ancient myths and symbols which attempt to describe and find meaning in the personal experience of our 3D existence on Planet Earth. Astronomy is purely scientific. It seeks to define, classify, quantify and measure the physical nature of the Universe.

Is there a 13th Sign?

Not according to Western astrology, which has it roots in the ancient traditions of numerology and the mysteries of mathematical music. Constellations of various lengths and widths touch or cross the great circle of the Ecliptic, which traces the Sun’s apparent path around Earth. Only 12 were chosen to represent the Zodiac Signs.  About the ASTROLOGER

Astrology and Me

I am very lucky to have had an interesting and varied life but it hasn’t been without its dark days! It was about 38 years ago, when I was going through one of those really intense experiences, that I first found astrology. It has been helping me to make sense of both the good times and bad ever since.

Eager Student

As I was living in London, I was able to attend regular classes held by the Faculty of Astrological Studies. I spent six exciting years studying the spellbinding subject and gained my diploma in 1992, when I began to read birth charts professionally. Each time I interpret a chart, whether for work, study, research or pleasure, my interest in astrology increases.

Professional Training & Ongoing Practice

I had to set myself up for some serious studying in order to pass the exams which gave me my DFAstrolS qualification and I continue to learn more with every chart I read!

My regular work with clients provides me with an infinite supply of challenge and joy. Writing articles and posting on social media platforms can be difficult and time consuming but I find it really helps to improve my fluency in the language of astrology.

My Belief

I suppose I was born an astrologer as I have always been interested in people, their lives and loves, hopes and dreams, sorrows and joys. I think growing up in the Arabian desert under those amazing night skies crammed with stars may also have had something to do with it!

I believe that when you ask for a reading you are really asking your Wise Self to guide you, through the mind and mouth of the person who is reading for you. Your Inner Guide does not interfere with your free will but tries to show you choices that are in your best interests.

 Becoming an ASTROLOGER

Learning to be an Astrologer

Astrology is a life-long commitment for me. It never bores me and always intrigues me. It surprises and delights me on a daily basis. And I imagine I will carry on learning about it for life times to come!

Following and interpreting the great Planetary cycles can be scary at times, but I never cease to be amazed at just how accurate astrology can be.

My Training

1986-1992 I attended regular classes held by the Faculty of Astrological Studies, where I learned the mystical art of how to read a horoscope. The course also taught me about chart calculation and basic astronomy as well as the history & psychology of astrology.

1991-2000 I felt I needed further training in client care and I became a qualified practitioner of aromatherapy, reflexology and therapeutic massage. This helped me to develop listening & observational skills and to take a more holistic approach to my work.

My Style of Reading

I do not tell fortunes or give psychic readings. My aim is to pass on to you the fascinating feedback and important information provided by your Birth Chart. I focus on your free will choices and potential for positive manifestation. I also alert you to the beneficial and/or challenging planetary influences around you and ahead of you.

Your life experiences can then be used to develop coping strategies and creative solutions as you begin to take conscious control of your own destiny.

Objectives & Results

My aim is to make my clients feel that I am in a partnership with them as we work together to find explanations, answers and solutions for them. I probably know more about astrology than they do, but they certainly know more about their lives than I do! Our combined experience is what really counts.

I may not always be able to deliver the Yes or No answer that my client is looking for, but I can bring the clarity and perspective which will help them take decisions, and the confirmation that brings confidence and courage.

Ethics of Astrology

People tend to visit an astrologer when they are seeking help in tough times and are willing to place their trust in someone who sounds like they understand.

An ethical astrologer will never take advantage of this vulnerability. They will acknowledge the anxiety, empathise with the problem, and then work to support their client. They may or may not be able to offer instant solutions, but they can usually point to a light at the end of the tunnel.

Responsibility of the Reader

It is the responsibility of any astrologer to respect their client’s privacy and free will, to honour their right to determine their own destiny. My job is to offer insight, perspective, advice and guidance based on my knowledge of astrology.

I cannot tell my clients what to do with their lives, I can only encourage them to be honest and clear about what they really want to happen. It is not my job to direct their decisions, although I might give warning if it seems to me that they are planning to act against their best interests.

Contented CLIENTS

I count myself very blessed to have read for many people over the years. Lots of them come back for repeat readings and recommend me to their friends.

“Hi Pauline, having listened back to our session I wanted to thank you again. It was excellent and elegantly delivered! I feel spiritually seen and that I now have some solid advice and structures to gently mull over. In short, everything I wanted from the reading.”

“Dear Pauline, Thanks again for your readings. You gave me incredibly valuable insights in a moment of my life where I really needed guidance. Huge appreciation for your work.”

“Hi Pauline, I just wanted to say a big thank you again for the fantastic reading – your insightful and nuanced observations and suggestions have certainly given me much food for thought!”

“Dear Pauline, I would like to express my respect for your astrological and counselling style. You practically and profoundly guide the client towards his/her soul realms, life path, desires and hopes. It is very rare to have such revelation and kind understanding in a single session. Your empathy and spiritual approach make this a rich and exceptional experience!”

“Pauline’s reading was incredibly helpful and resourceful – it was empowering to be able to ‘join the dots’ together and truly understand myself – what I wanted and how to get past the obstacles to get there. I’ve been able to use the insight gained to improve the quality of my life and well-being to stay on track with my life path”
